Using cell phones while driving : Traffic Police City Srinagar suspends 16 driving licenses | KNO

21 are under process for suspension

Srinagar, January 23 (KNO) : Traffic Police City Srinagar has suspended 37 driving licenses of those drivers who were found using cell phones while driving. All the 37 seized driving licenses were recommended for suspension for the period of 03 months. 16 licenses have been suspended by concerned ARTO’s and rest 21 are under process for suspension. It is pertinent to mention here that Hon’ble Supreme Court committee to monitor and measure implementation of Road Safety Laws have directed concerned departments to suspend driving licenses for the period not less than 03 months under section 19 M.V Act (read with rule 21) of M.V Act 1989. Among the seized licenses by Traffic Police City Srinagar, 19 drivers possesses the driving licenses of Srinagar District, 05 of Budgam District, 03 of Pulwama District, 03 of Baramulla District, 02 of Bandipora District & 01 each of Jammu, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kargil & Poonch Districts. People driving any kind of vehicle are requested not to use cell phone while driving a vehicle as it endangers life and property and amounts to driving dangerously.(KNO)
